Daily, the laws of God are broken, the Bible is trampled on, and violence runs rampant. What has happened to the world and how do we combat this growing evil?
Jude 14 – 21 tells us:
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage. But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jude warned us that in the last days there would be mockers. These people are those who do not care about anything other than their own worldly desires. They mock the Bible, they mock traditions, they mock the law, and they mock anything that goes against their own lusts.
They seek their own pleasures above all else, and unfortunately, this includes even great “men of God” and Christian leaders. Many have their own personal agendas and have been lured away by temptations from the devil—temptations of money, power, fame, or anything else they have allowed their eye or their heart to lust after.
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
II Peter 2:14–15
It is important to keep your eyes focused on Jesus. Do not look to the left or to the right. The devil knows exactly what your weaknesses are and will attempt to lure you into sin by placing temptations in front of you.
Stay strong by praying in the Holy Ghost and pray that others will be able to resist the temptations set before them by the great deceiver.
Say this faith declaration out loud: Lord, I see what happens when people allow themselves to be lured away from You through worldly temptations. I will keep my eye focused on You alone and will be ever conscious of the devil’s tricks to deceive me. When I feel weak, I will look to You for strength. I know that You will always be there to help me when I am being tested.
Scripture Reading:
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
I John 2:16
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Mark 7:21–23
