Have you ever been in a life–threatening situation? When your physical, emotional, or spiritual life is in jeopardy, fear can grip your heart—as your mind runs away with dread. Whether it’s escaping a near fatal accident, surviving a deadly disease, losing a loved one, or recommitting to Christ, the value of life changes for you.

Beloved, our life was given to us by our Heavenly Father. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul (Genesis 2:7).

We need to value that life. Show salvation in our words and deeds. Save the lives of others. You are not powerless, and you have the power to affect others. Study God’s Word, study your heart and your actions, and let your life portray a Christian walk that others will see and want for themselves.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved (Romans 10:9–10, NIV).

How then, can we save lives? Our eternal life was so important to God that He sacrificed His son to ensure our salvation. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Christians have the promise of eternal life. We are commissioned by our Father, God, to share that promise through our word and deeds. We don’t have to be a doctor, or psychologist, or pastor to save lives. We can save lives on an eternal level.

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

John 6:63, NKJV

When we think of saving a life, we think of someone needing to been rescued. Therefore, someone who has been saved is someone whose life is no longer in danger. As Christians, we use the term “saved” to describe someone whose life has been surrendered to Jesus Christ, giving them eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:17, NKJV).

Beloved, we must have a DESIRE to see people’s lives saved. Jesus commanded His disciples in Matthew 28:19 to go into all the world preaching the Gospel. Every Christian is commissioned by the Lord to go.

Paul shows us the righteousness of God, for those of us who “go”, in the book of Romans:

God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.

Romans 2:6-7, NIV

Imagine if you could say you’d saved 100 people’s lives, or 50, or 10. By earthly standards, you would be a hero. Now, apply that to saving souls. Imagine if, because you shared the Word of God with them, 10 people got saved! Or 50! Or 100!

The Book of Mark tells us:

And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.

Mark 4:20

Beloved, we must also pray. Pray for people’s lives to be saved. Pray for wisdom in saving lives. Pray for people to be brought to a vital love relationship with Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Pray. This is how we can save lives.

Say this faith declaration out loud: Lord, thank You for saving my life. I claim Your promise of eternal life. I ask for wisdom in reaching others with Your Gospel and the message of how their lives can also be saved. I will go as You commanded me to make disciples of all men. Amen.

Scripture Reading:

The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Job 33:4, NKJV

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Matthew 28:19-20, NKJV

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.

Daniel 12:3
