Trending News This Week:

  • One of the reasons why many Christians are not walking in the power and freedom God intended for them as sons of the living God is because they are still carrying and holding onto hurts of the past. They are chained to their hurts and to those who have hurt them through bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness.

Beloved, there is freedom from all of this bondage through the peace and hope that is given us through Christ and the power of the Holy Ghost.

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost. And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

Romans 15:13-14

We try to shut out pain, to forget the memory and put it out of our minds once and for all, but Satan comes and tries to stir it up in order to keep us in a state of weakness. He has seven strategies that he uses to try to get us to react to the hurts of the past and block the healing of the wounds:

  • Anger
  • Withdrawal
  • Self-pity
  • Revenge
  • Bitterness
  • Unforgiveness
  • Resentment

Uncovering the wounds and hurts of the past may be painful, but we cannot continue to overlook them, cover them up, or pretend that they are not there. God wants to bring us to a new position of strength and restoration – in our spirit, soul, and body!

When we are hurt, not only are our emotions affected, but the hurt goes deep down into our spirits, and then eventually affects our body. And that is why healing must come from within. Our spirits must be healed before the rest of us can be made whole.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5

Our comfort can come from knowing that Jesus already took every kind of hurt, pain, sickness, and sorrow that ever has or ever will exist. There is no hurt too deep and no wound too great that God cannot heal. Only when we are healed and strengthened will we be able to open the doors of our churches and declare to the world, “We are in the healing business.”

Beloved, when you are aware of Satan’s tactics, and know that these tactics are meant to weaken and paralyze you, then you can begin to resist them. As you resist that anger that is welling up inside of you, when you refuse to walk away wounded because someone hurt your feelings, when you forgive the person who has done that really terrible thing to you, you will begin to grow stronger and stronger to the point where you will no longer be ruled by emotions or be prey for the devil.

This is a process. Start with one thing, one step at a time. You won’t experience a great victory overnight, but eventually you will get there if you start now. And start by knowing that God has fully equipped us to overcome every circumstance that rises up against us.

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

II Peter 1:3

Say this faith declaration out loud: Father, today I will take my first step towards victory. I will begin by realizing all of the tactics that Satan tries to use against me, and by acknowledging that Jesus has already paid the price for my complete victory. In Him, I am triumphant! Amen!

Scripture Reading:

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Philemon 1:6

For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

Isaiah 28:10

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Philippians 4:13
