Answers don’t always come the moment we pray, but don’t give up; the answer is on its way!
You may have been praying for years and have not yet seen the answers that you have been seeking, but now is not the time to quit. Remember the story about Daniel. He had been praying and fasting for three weeks. As he humbled himself before God, clothed in sackcloth and ashes, a warrior angel finally appeared to him and said:
… Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.
Daniel 10:12-13
The very first day that Daniel set his mind and heart to hear from God, and began to fast and pray, God heard him and dispatched an angel with the answer, but the angel was delayed by the enemy. An intense battle in the spirit realm kept the answer from coming sooner. This example reveals to us the warfare that takes place in the spirit realm that we are unable to see with our natural eyes.
Your warfare is not on the surface. It is not in the circumstances as you see them. Your warfare is not in the natural world that is governed by your five natural senses. Your battle is in the spiritual realm. Behind the circumstances that you are facing, there are spiritual powers and rulers of darkness at work.
In prayer, as you begin to penetrate deep into the spirit realm, God will begin to reveal to you the spirits, the powers, the root causes of the battles that you are facing. Perhaps a spirit of poverty has been hindering you, or perhaps a spirit of unworthiness. But as you pray, the Lord will reveal it, and through Christ, you can defeat it!
The Lord has given us different methods of defeating the enemy. One is through speaking to God in our heavenly language. Romans 8:26 says: the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Praying in tongues is a powerful weapon in your arsenal. Don’t forget to use it.
During His ministry on Earth, Jesus exercised power and dominion over demonic spirits. He cast them out by speaking the Word. He explained that He did it by the power of the Spirit:
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
Matthew 12:28-29
We also have been given the same power to bind Satan and his principalities. Jesus said:
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luke 10:19
Don’t ever fall into Satan’s trap by allowing yourself to think that he has power over you or your circumstances. He is a liar and the father of lies. You have been given power and authority over ALL of his power.
Jesus reiterated this point in Matthew 16:19:
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Again, in Matthew, as Jesus was teaching His disciples, He mentioned the power of binding and loosing and linked it with the prayer of agreement:
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Matthew 18:18-20
In these verses, the power of binding and loosing, the keys of the Kingdom, and the power of prayer are all vitally interrelated. His power and His Presence are with us, as we join in agreement. We can know—beyond any doubt—that what we have bound has been bound. What we prayed is done!
Say this faith declaration out loud: Dear Lord, I take my authority, and I bind Satan and all of his principalities from hindering my finances. I bind any spirit that is trying to keep me in lack. I loose all manner of financial provision to flow into my life. Thank You, Lord, that I am free to receive all You have for me. Amen!
