  • Our words, gestures, and spirit must align in order for us to live without strife and be victorious in life.

If your lips say one thing, while your spirit says something else, it prevents you from receiving from God and prevents others from receiving what you are saying. It can have serious consequences on your health, your finances, and even your children.

Let me give you an example. One morning a husband spills coffee all over the floor, which his wife then cleans, making her late to work. This causes an argument. Neither of their days goes well, but by the time they get home, the husband has had remorse over their argument, and apologizes to his wife. The wife verbalized her acceptance of his apology, but remained angry and resentful. This disagreement in her spirit began to cause internal conflict, as well as open a door for the devil to create further problems between the two.

For days, the normally loving couple engaged in numerous spats, and were generally just irritated with one another. It wasn’t until the Lord revealed the cause – that the wife had never actually forgiven her husband – that they were able to correct the situation. The Lord led them to apologize to one another, for the wife to truly accept her husband’s original apology, and for them to repent unto the Lord for their behavior. Peace and love returned to the home.

Beloved, do you see? When our words and gestures do not align with our spirit, internal conflict ensues. When our spirit conflicts with another’s spirit, the door is opened for all manner of problems. That is why Ephesians 4:26 tells us: Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: The devil preys on those who have succumbed to anger and resentment, and it won’t take long for him to turn your life upside down over a small disagreement with someone. That must be where a common saying “this was blown way out of proportion.” comes from. It’s because the devil sees a crack, and then takes a crow bar, forces that door wide open, and invites all of his buddies in for a party.

Say this faith declaration out loud: Lord, I will take special precaution to make sure that my words are in alignment with my spirit, and that I walk in love and forgiveness at all times. Your Words are not just good suggestions, but they are the very thing that will bring me victory when they abide in me.

Scripture Reading:

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Matthew 5:22-24

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.

Ephesians 4:30-32

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Colossians 3:7-10
