Satan tries to deceive people into thinking that the Bible is too hard for the average person to understand. He wants you to become dependent on others to interpret it for you.

Beloved, the Holy Spirit will teach you all things. Just trust Him to lead you, and He will show you where to look for the answers you need.

Now, don’t misunderstand me … God has appointed pastors, teachers, and evangelists to train, teach, and equip the Body of Christ. They are here to help you; but God does not want you to develop your understanding of His Word based only on what others have to say. He wants you to also study the Scriptures on your own and rely on the Holy Spirit to help you.

When Jesus was preparing His disciples for His departure, He told them:

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 14:26, NKJV

If there are things in the Word of God that you do not understand, ask God to reveal them to you. Then, listen quietly for that still, small voice to guide you. Beloved, you can even ask the Holy Spirit to show you things to come. When you do this, He will often take you to a Bible verse, or perhaps give you a vision … or just drop something into your heart. This is to prepare you, or encourage you … or help build your faith to receive something that you need or desire.

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

John 16:13

When you ask the Holy Spirit for guidance, remember to ask in faith, without any wavering, and then trust what He shows you … even if it doesn’t make sense to you at the moment. Sometimes the Lord will show us something in advance so that when it actually happens, we will know that it is from Him.

For example, one day a precious Partner asked the Holy Spirit to show her things to come, and then she quickly had a vision of herself wearing a long, blue robe. She thought, “How strange! I don’t sing; I’m not in a choir. Why would I be wearing a robe?” Shortly thereafter, she quite unexpectedly felt the calling to register for Bible College. When she later prepared for graduation and put on a long, blue robe, she remembered the vision and truly knew that that was what God had ordained for her.

Beloved, has God already been showing you things, or prompting you in a particular direction … but perhaps you didn’t realize that the visions or desires in your heart were given to you by the Lord?

Maybe He’s been trying to encourage you to move forward in the calling that He has for you, but you have been reluctant. Now is the time to step out in faith, put aside all fear, and lean on the Holy Spirit to teach you and guide you in the way you are to go.

The Bible teaches us that the Holy Spirit is our teacher, our comforter, our intercessor, our counselor, our advocate, our guide, and our witness. Trust that He will not let you down.

Say this faith declaration out loud: Dear Father, I will endeavor to lean more about the Holy Spirit … to guide me in the right direction, and to help me, teach me, and comfort me. I will dive into Your Word with boldness, knowing that He will help me to understand it and apply it to my life.

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

Psalm 32:8

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

I John 2:27

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Romans 8:26

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering . . .

James 1:5–6

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

John 14:16
