  • Many people today are struggling to understand why they seem to live in continuous defeat, why their prayers aren’t answered, and why they cannot seem to get ahead, no matter how hard they try.

Beloved, the answer may be quite simple! Are you walking with God or away from God? Disobedience can rob you of blessings, but obedience to the Word of God can help you overcome every situation that tries to pull you down and overwhelm you with stress, fear, and worry.

The city of Jericho was actually Israel’s from the very day they began their first march around its massive walls. They had God’s promise, and that was the same as if Jericho already belonged to them, but they were unable to see the walls destroyed until they acted in obedience.

The powerful key to their great victory, in taking the city of Jericho, was not based upon Israel’s natural abilities, their military strategies, their wisdom, or their strength. It was based upon their trusting and walking out God’s promises.

Our ability to receive from God is based upon our faith and obedience to His promises. We will prosper and thrive when we yield to His ways. Disobedience can hinder us from receiving all of the wonderful things that He has for us. God’s covenant with Abraham was based upon obedience. By faith, Abraham obeyed and obtained the promise.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.

Hebrews 11:8-12, NKJV

Beloved, you do not have to live a life of defeat. God’s desire is for us all to live prosperous, healthy, victorious lives. When you know the Word of God, obedience is easy, and victory follows. When you know the Word of God, you can walk by faith, and take hold of every good thing, which Jesus has already provided.

Say this faith declaration out loud: Lord, I repent of my disobedience. I will endeavor from this day forward to be obedient to Your Word, as I know that You only want the best for me. Amen.
