  • Mass murders and drug overdoses have been higher so far this year than ever before.

Violence, drug abuse, reports of crazy behavior, unexplained sights and sounds, and loss of ethics and morals have been on the rise worldwide. How does this correlate with not only the attempted removal of prayer from all public places, but the increasing persecution of Christians? Are recent societal changes about “accepting” all people, or about rejecting God?

When we turn from God, we run straight into the devil’s arms, and he is the worker of all evil in this world.

Step by step, Satan lures us into his death trap by slowly destroying all things that are good and lovely—all beautiful things of God.

He baits us by placing some form of temptation that arouses a desire within us. Sin is conceived in our hearts and minds when we yield our wills to sinful desires. Sin manifests itself through our actions, and ultimately brings death, both physical and spiritual.

Satan’s major strategy in luring and seducing us into temptation is to gain access into our minds through what we see and hear. Eve gave Satan access to her mind by listening to him. His next strategy was to deceive her.

In the same way, Satan attempts to deceive us all today. He bombards our minds with ungodly thoughts and makes those things seem irresistibly appealing. Then he goes a step further and tries to convince us that it is good and acceptable, and that all who oppose that behavior are wicked and seek to oppress others from living the way they want.

The Bible, God’s instructions to us, warns us:

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Matthew 24:12

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Matthew 25:46

Beloved, the Bible was not given to us by God as a means to oppress us, but as a means to free us from the bondage of sin. And sin is bondage, whether you realize it or not. God is love, and His only desire is for us to walk in all of the abundant blessings that He has for us. These blessings come when we resist the devil and walk according to ways of righteousness.

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

Deuteronomy 28:2

Beloved … Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you … (James 4:7-8).

Say this faith declaration out loud: Dear Father, help me to not be deceived by the devil. Thank you for forgiving me of my sins and helping me to walk in righteousness. Give me strength to do what is right in your eyes and to resist every evil temptation. Amen.

Scripture Reading:

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I John 1:7-9
