“God will make a way when there seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see; He will make a way for me …” are the soothing words written and played internationally by famed worship leader, Don Moen. Some would say his talents are gifts are of God; others might say God manifested miracles to happen in his life to bring him fame and fortune. Yet, all would agree his music blesses God’s people in times of need and comfort. Moen gives all the glory to the Holy Spirit.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Psalm 40:3
Does God give gifts and manifest miracles through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit?
ABSOLUTELY! YES! YES! YES!
The gifts of the Holy Spirit that are a manifestation of his indwelling are intended to be a bonus … extra power to punctuate the preaching of the Gospel … and for God to have mercy on those in need of healing, deliverance, and salvation.
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is given to us for ONE SPECIFIC PURPOSE:
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew unto you.
John 16:13–14
The Holy Spirit’s primary job inside you is to glorify Christ.
The Holy Spirit seeks to glorify Christ … not through the gifts of the Spirit, but through the change in your life, through His power to completely revolutionize who you are, how you think, how you behave, and everything about you!
The Holy Spirit’s ministry in your life is CHANGING YOU into someone who is LIKE CHRIST, so that Christ can be glorified for the change in your life.
Are there gifts that accompany that ministry? Yes. Is there power that comes with the Holy Ghost? Yes! Do Spirit–filled Christians have unbelievable power? Yes!
But the primary ministry of the Holy Spirit is NOT that power. The primary ministry of the indwelling Holy Spirit is to take a spiritually dead person and make them born again.
If there was ever a time for people to hear this message, it’s now!
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
In spite of the hopelessness you see around you, God is working in ways you cannot see to bring hope, healing, salvation, provision, and deliverance … and to provide for every need according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ.
Say this faith declaration out loud: “I am taking possession of my full inheritance! As a joint–heir with Christ, I am no longer bound by my carnal, natural limitations. By faith, I will wage war in the spirit to overcome fear, unbelief, and every hindering force that will try to stop me. I will act in faith on God’s promises, and take all that belongs to me through Christ.”
