- “Trump’s Spiritual Journey: Once skeptical, the religious right is now singing the praises of President Donald Trump … And that spiritual journey, it appears, may be one of Trump’s lasting legacies.” (U.S. News)
Beloved, each one of us needs to be on a spiritual journey, following in the steps of Jesus Christ. Each of us is called to bring honor and glory to God in all we do and say, and to recognize and support unity in the Body of Christ so that the world will know we are His disciples.
We often start our journey not knowing where it will lead. When the end destination is a mystery, it makes it difficult to take that first step. Following God requires walking in faith, and He sometimes calls us into unfamiliar places to do His will.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17
God gave us the Word so that we would know how to walk more closely with Him. We can use it to more effectively to teach the message of salvation. The apostle Paul’s journey to follow Jesus Christ and spread the message of His salvation started on a road to Damascus. (Act 9:1-19.) Later, he retold the journey as his testimony. (Acts 22:6—21 and Acts 26:12—18.)
Beloved, there are many different journeys before us, many paths we can take, and many choices to make. The enemy will try to coerce you into taking the journey he wants, to get you to stray from your path of righteousness. But, God will reveal Himself in the midst of trials and guide you in your walk.
But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
II Thessalonians 3:3
How can we, as Christians, use our journey to proclaim Jesus as our Savior, as the salvation for the world, and as a witness for souls? How will we use the experiences of our journey to (and with) Christ as a testimony to others?
We must carry the saving and healing message of Jesus Christ to every nation and island of the earth. We must proclaim the whole Gospel of Jesus Christ to every person on earth in our generation. We must build God a mighty, active army of trained believers in every nation, for the purpose of overtaking darkness and spreading the light of the Gospel of Christ. (Taken from the MCWE Mission Statement.)
Paul answered God’s call to proclaim Christ by preaching the news of Jesus on many different missionary journeys, as seen in Acts and Romans.
Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.
Romans 15:24
Beloved, as we answer God’s call, and focus on God’s Word and the testimony of Paul and so many others in the Bible, we will find the strength and knowledge that we need for our journey.
As we step out in faith, using the Word of God as our guide, and listening to God as he leads us, we will be able to claim the words of Paul in II Timothy:
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
II Timothy 4:6—7
Say this week’s faith declaration out loud: Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your Word. My faith in You will guide me on my journey as I draw nearer to You, and walk with You. Because of You, I am confident in my testimony, and I am able proclaim Your Son to every person I meet, as Lord and Savior. You are my strength and my salvation. Amen!
Scripture Reading:
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
