Have you ever wondered how you were going to keep the electricity on and be able to feed your children at the same time? If you would be able to put gas in your car and pay your car insurance that same week?
Beloved, everything we need has already been bought and paid for, sealed and made effective through the blood of Jesus. Knowing this covenant, we must rise up in faith and appropriate it in our lives.
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:31-33
When God delivered Israel out of Egyptian bondage (Exodus 14:30), He brought them to the border of the Promised Land. From where they were camped, the Israelites could see the sun rising before them above the hills, which were part of the land God promised them as an inheritance.
Imagine the excitement and joy that filled the hearts and minds of Moses and the people as they gazed toward the land of Canaan. Before them, within a few days’ journey, was the land of promise, with all the blessings of the covenant–health, prosperity, daily provision, protection–everything they needed.
The Promised Land and all the covenant promises were their inheritance. The land and promises belonged to them, but having the promises was not the same as taking possession of them.
God directed them to take possession of the land. Moses told them:
Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
Deuteronomy 1:21
They had to choose not to be afraid, to obey God, and possess the land of their inheritance. We have the same choice today. These very same covenant promises for your inheritance are accessible to you, right now, through God. Just like the Israelites, you have a choice. What will you choose to do? Will you set aside fear and discouragement, and claim your inheritance?
The Bible is full of references regarding our inheritance. As you study the Word, reflect on all the times God promises us an inheritance, and claim those promises as your own.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade.
This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,
I Peter 1:3-4, NIV
We can give God praise, even during trials, because we have His guarantee that through salvation, we will receive all He has promised: For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; (II Corinthians 4:17)
We are victorious when we take our eyes off earthly possessions and needs and look towards our heavenly inheritance. Today is the day to claim God’s promises and receive the inheritance that He has set aside for you.
May God pour out His Spirit upon your life, as you have never experienced before. This is your time to enter your Promised Land, and take hold of your inheritance.
Say this faith declaration out loud: Lord Jesus, thank You for the inheritance that You have set aside for me in heaven. I put my needs in Your hands, and in faith claim your covenant with me to receive the inheritance that You have set aside for me. Amen.
Scripture Reading:
And God has reserved for his children the priceless gift of eternal life; it is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
I Peter 1:4, TLB
Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
Romans 8:17, NIV
Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
Galatains 4:6-7, NIV
