- Personal debt is on the rise, people are struggling to meet their needs, jobs are scarce, and many are losing hope in the possibility of a brighter future.
Beloved, did you know that there is a simple solution to these issues?
In the Book of James, chapter two, the author poses this question:
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
James 2:15-16
James is getting ready to say something very important—something that many Christians do not know—the missing key to receiving answers to prayers.
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works … Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? … Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
James 2:17, 18, 21, 25
Beloved, James is saying that you can have all the faith in the world, but if you don’t have works to go with it, your faith will not be effective. Our modern day way of saying that would be: “Put your money where your mouth is.” In other words, if you claim to believe something, then you must act like you do by taking certain actions that support your faith, just like faithful Abraham did.
The Word tells us that our faith is perfected by the actions that we take–the actions that align with the thing we say we believe.
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
James 2:22
As an example, if we say that we have faith to receive financial blessings, because the Word promises it, but then we don’t act like we believe it by giving, then our faith will be ineffective.
If we say that we believe that He took our infirmities and bare our sicknesses (Matthew 8:17), but we don’t exercise our faith and do what we couldn’t do, then our faith is ineffective.
Beloved, do you understand? Faith without corresponding works is dead!
But, the solution is EASY! Believe what God says and act on that faith. As you do this, your faith is perfected, and you are able to receive all that God has for you.
Now, get busy perfecting your faith and watch what happens. Remember—faith is a fact, but faith is an act!
Say this faith declaration out loud: Lord, thank you for the key to perfecting my faith. I will use this key and begin combining actions with my faith. I will not be afraid. I will be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. I will receive all that You have for me. Amen.
Scripture Reading:
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
James 1:22
What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
James 2:14
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
