- The Power of a Mother’s Prayers ~CBN
Beloved, God is in control of your life, and is such a great God, that everything that concerns us concerns Him. This includes our families and our responsibilities as a wife and mother. Our future generations must be trained and equipped to fulfill God’s end–time spiritual plan.
My dear wife is known as “Mama” to all the friends and Partners of World Evangelism. Having been raised up by God with a unique ministry to families, she has spent a lifetime sharing her special message on God–ordained family relationships.
This time of year, I would like to celebrate ALL women — mothers, grandmothers,
mother-in-laws, wives, and daughters.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:25—30
The best way to raise your children is not as if they are your own. Realize that your children are a gift from God—not yours—but His children. (Psalm 127:3). As you raise up the next generation of ministers and evangelists of the Gospel, the blessings on their lives, and yours, will be more rewarding than you can imagine.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
The Bible gives us clear guidelines on how to treat children. They were loved by Jesus, and their value to Him was immeasurable. He even rebuked His disciples and made sure that the children came first, using them as an example to the crowd of how to get into the kingdom of heaven.
Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. And he laid his hands on them …
Matthew 19:13–15
I want to share seven important lessons that define a mother’s role in God’s Word. Take out your Bible, and read these passages to gain understanding of how God guides mothers to raise generations of godly, faithful children:
- Availability — Through day and night (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
- Training — Values, beliefs, advice (Proverbs 22:6)
- Teaching — Scriptural doctrine (Deuteronomy 4:10)
- Development — Skills and spiritual gifts (Romans 12:3-8)
- Discipline — The fear of the Lord, and guidelines (Hebrews 12:5-11)
- Cherish — Provide love and nurturing support (Ephesians 5:1-2)
- Honor — Pass integrity down generation to generation (Proverbs 11:3)
Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Deuteronomy 4:9
The mother–child relationship is best defined as Jesus hang dying on the cross. As He looked down upon His mother, we can only imagine that her grief did not allow her to wonder what would happen to her; but Jesus loved His mother and made provisions to take care of her, even unto His death. Only a mother’s love could have brought such a reaction, even in Jesus’ final hour.
Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
John 19:25–27
Beloved, with the attitude that motherhood is something God calls you to do—that it is not an obligation, or an inconvenience, but a gift—you will get a biblical perspective of motherhood. Your children will grow in their love and faith in God, and pass that faith down through generations to reach the world for Christ!
Say this faith declaration out loud: Father, thank You for Your lessons on motherhood. I will not be fearful or worry as I place my children in Your hands, and raise them according to Your Word. I believe with my children in Your care, I will raise them to pass my faith and belief in You from generation to generation. Amen.
