- How Gardens are Providing Fresh Produce to People in Need. ~Feeding America
Have you ever run out of food? Did you feel hungry? Empty? Alone? What about gas? Has your car ever run out of gas? Did you feel helpless? Isolated? Beloved, both of these scenarios happen to people all over the world. The maintenance of our cars, and our bodies, is crucial to their functionality.
We can be that way spiritually, as well. Just like our car needs gas as fuel to continue going, and our body needs food as fuel to give us energy, we need the fuel of the Holy Spirit. To be filled by the Holy Spirit, we need to feed or be built up in the Holy Spirit.
Christians often neglect their spiritual maintenance, and although they have been filled with the Holy Spirit, they need to feed the Holy Spirit in them to keep their spiritual life strong and heathy. We can do this by consistently reading our Bibles and praying daily. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to show us the truth, and teach us how to live.
A person who is filled with the Spirit is driven by the Spirit. A Spirit-driven person allows the Holy Spirit to direct and guide every decision, plan, and activity of daily life. We need to be filled and renewed continually. As we do, the power of the Holy Spirit will be ours and we will do remarkable works in our lives.
The Holy Spirit will give life to us.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you (Romans 8:11).
The Holy Spirit will fill us.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18).
The Holy Spirit will teach us.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26).
The Holy Spirit will regenerate and renew us.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost (Titus 3:5).
The Holy Spirit will empower us.
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31).
The Holy Spirit will comfort us.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you (John 14:16—17).
The Holy Spirit will produce fruit in us.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).
The Holy Spirit works in us, and for us, throughout the most unbearable situations in our lives—moments that we didn’t see coming, and that we have no earthly way of getting out. The Holy Spirit rejoices with us during the incredible, blessed moments in our lives. Regardless of the circumstances, as we feed the Holy Spirit, the Spirit fuels us.
We need to feed the Holy Spirit on a daily basis—ask the Holy Spirit to lead us, guide us, and help us do the things that God wants us to do. Take the time to turn away from daily distractions and read the Bible. Pray. Ask God what He wants to do in and through you, and let the Holy Spirit guide you.
Say this faith declaration out loud: Father, thank You for sending me a Comforter. I will feed the Holy Spirit daily with both Your Word and through prayer. I will ask the Holy Spirit to lead me, guide me, and help me to do the things that You want me to do. Amen.
Scripture Reading:
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Act 1:8
But as for me, I am filled with power, with the Spirit of the LORD, and with justice and might …
Michah 3:8, NIV
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:26
