To go beyond ordinary prayer, we must have a fresh revelation of God as our heavenly Father, Who desires to pour good things into our lives. He has provided everything we need and is just waiting for us to ask. He looks for every opportunity to manifest His power on behalf of His children.

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him . . .

II Chronicles 16:9

When we live in this intimate relationship with the Father, the prayer of faith and its answer will be the natural result! Moses, who talked with God face-to-face and was known as a friend of God, did not have the revelation we have today of calling upon God as our Father. Elijah, who prayed and shut the heavens so that it did not rain for 3½ years, who prayed and opened the heavens, who prayed and God responded by sending fire from heaven, did not have the intimate relationship we can have with God as our Father. David, who had an intimate relationship with God, and was known as a man after God’s own heart, did not know Him as Father.

Today, through Christ, we have been restored into fellowship with Almighty God and enjoy the awesome privilege and blessing our spiritual forefathers did not have. Through prayer, we have intimacy with God and call Him our Father.

To go beyond ordinary prayer and live in the powerful dimension of prayer that Jesus taught, you must come before the Father with your whole heart and know Him intimately as your Father. This is the foundation and basis of all true prayer. Jesus said, After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name (Matthew 6:9).

True prayer–beyond the ordinary–is much more than asking God for things. It is a living, vital relationship with our heavenly Father. We must learn to come before Him with a childlike simplicity, in faith, trusting and knowing He desires to pour into our lives all that we need.

In Galatians, Paul gave us a powerful revelation of our new relationship with God:

But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Galatians 4:4-7

Beloved, you are God’s own precious child, and He desires for you to draw near to Him, because He loves you so very much. So, when you pray, think of Him as your Father, and not just some person far, far away who may not even know who you are. The Father knows you so well, that even the very hairs of your head are all numbered (Luke 12:7). That’s how intimately He knows you.

Say this faith declaration out loud: Father, I love You. Thank You for showing me how much You love me. I want to spend more time with You and develop a deeper, more intimate relationship. Thank You for holding my hand and never letting go. Thank You for bringing me into a place of complete peace, joy, and victory.
