Are you like the Israelites of the Bible? Are you in bondage to the wickedness of this world? Do you wear chains of poverty? Do you and your loved ones seek salvation, healing, deliverance, and forgiveness from sin? God broke the chains of bondage for the children of Israel, and He will do that for you, too! Passover is a time to be freed from bondage!
Beloved, God is a God of purpose, plan, design, and objectivity! Hundreds of years before the children of Israel went into Egyptian captivity, God told Abraham how long they would be in bondage and that He would bring them out.
These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD ‘s passover.
Leviticus 23:4-5
Jews all around the world will begin observing the Day of Passover, or Yom Kippur in the Hebrew language, at sunset on Friday, April 19th, 2019. But did you know that many Christians all over the world will also observe Passover? Do you know why they do that?
The Feast of Passover is an annual remembrance … a holy time for God’s people to bring a special offering to Him. And this day shall be unto you … a feast to the LORD throughout your generations … by an ordinance for ever (Exodus 12:14). God’s command to keep the Passover is an everlasting ordinance.
For four hundred and thirty years, the Israelites were slaves under cruel Egyptian bondage. They lived in abject poverty and want, toiling under the hands of hard taskmasters. God broke the chains of bondage from the children of Israel at Passover.
Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:)
Exodus 23:15
God has entered a covenant of blessing and prosperity with you, just as He did with Israel. Within this covenant, He made a provision for all your needs to be met. He has provided you with salvation, healing, deliverance, and forgiveness of sins. He has promised to bless and prosper you!
This Passover, let God raise the level of your faith, as you see that Jesus Christ is your Passover Lamb (I Corinthians 5:7). Jesus (the perfect sacrifice) has paid the price for your full redemption so you can enter into your inheritance: salvation, forgiveness of sin, the Holy Spirit empowering you, healing, and heaven’s riches. The key to experiencing this divine sufficiency is in knowing that Christ, your Passover Lamb, has already provided it for you.
Through faith, we receive that provision by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. God said, … when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be upon you … (Exodus 12:13). This provision includes:
- The blood of Christ is applied over you at the moment of your salvation.
- The blood cleanses you from all sin.
- The blood releases new beginnings in your life.
- The lamb’s blood replaces yours.
- The blood makes you sacred to God.
Beloved, Jesus and his disciples were celebrating Passover during the Last Supper; therefore, many Christians celebrate Passover to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It is the oldest and most important religious festival in Judaism, commemorating God’s deliverance of the Hebrews from slavery in Egypt and His creation of the Israelite people. We use it to remember Jesus’ blood washing away our sins.
Beloved, this Passover season, we are dedicating a special Passover offering for the salvation of Israel. Obey God, just like Mary, and come before the Lord to receive the Passover blessing with your sacrificial offering. The Lord is asking you, “What are you willing to sacrifice to reach God’s chosen people?”
