- Not all doors were meant to be opened.
Sometimes when things don’t go as we desire, it may be that God is keeping us from making a bad decision.
Beloved, things are not always going to go your way, and sometimes it is for reasons beyond what you can understand. There are times and seasons for things, and sometimes God will simply not open a door when He knows that it is not the right door for you to walk through.
We must be careful, though, that when things do not go our way, we do not hold onto any negative feelings. It is very important to accept the situation immediately. If not, feelings of regret, disappointment, or bitterness can take root, and once they take root, they can lead to all manner of other issues. Beloved, do not allow that to happen. It’s not worth it.
Peter told us in I Peter 5:6: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
If you stand in faith, the Lord will make sure that the right doors open at the right time. And beloved, know this – God knows what is best for you. Be sure you know His will before you start praying. The Word says that you can have what you say: … As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: (Numbers 14:28). That said, make sure that what you are praying for and confessing is actually the will of God, and not your own carnal desire. Know that God’s will for you will always be the right thing for you. Your desires may seem good on the surface, but you may not fully understand the consequences of what you are asking.
Paul tells us in II Corinthians 1:20, For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. By this, we know that when we are asking for something that is the will of God, His answer is already “yes!” We can also know, then, that when we do not get something we’ve asked for, it often may be because it is not the will of God for our lives. If we can just understand this, and move on with gladness when something doesn’t go our way, we can spare ourselves so much pain and disappointment.
A young man called our Partner Services team recently to give a testimony. For quite some time, He had been praying for a new job at a particular company, and could not understand why his application had gone unanswered. As time went by, his disappointment grew. He later learned that the company was actually going through severe challenges, and it would not have been a good time for him to go there.
So, you see beloved, God was actually watching out for him. His prayers were unanswered, but there was a good reason — it was not the will of God — and remember, GOD KNOWS BEST! He knows things that we don’t know, and may never know. So, do not get discouraged when things don’t go according to your plans – God may have other plans for you! And trust me, they will be far better than any plans you have for yourself!
Say this faith declaration out loud: Lord, I trust Your judgement and plans for my life. As I yield to Your will, I know that You will watch out for me and keep me from making bad decisions. I will endeavor to accept situations, even when they do not go my way, as I know that You will open the right doors for me at the right time! Hallelujah!
