• ‘Tis the season for broken hearts and broken relationships to mend!

This Christmas season, God is going to pour the healing oil of the Holy Spirit into the deep wounds that His children have experienced and carried for many years. Satan has been using these wounds to keep the Body of Christ in a spiritually weakened condition so that they are vulnerable to his attacks. As long as these deep wounds are not healed, we remain in a weakened position. It is time to seal up these wounds once and for all!

Think about this: what do you do when you receive a wound to your body? Your immediate thoughts are towards getting that wound healed. You apply some antiseptic and put a bandage on it to protect it from infection and help the healing process. Why, then, don’t we exercise that same type of care and concern for spiritual wounds? Wounds, caused by fear, anger, bitterness, self-pity, resentment, revenge, and unforgiveness – if not dealt with – will fester and hinder your ability to receive from God.

These wounds can sometimes go unseen on the surface for many years, but eventually they manifest through your words and actions, and can even bring on pain and sickness. By then, you may not even remember or realize that those old wounds are still there. Beloved, before your physical body or soul can be healed, you must first deal with the spiritual root cause.

It is important to spend time with the Lord and let Him reveal to you where there may be unresolved issues. You may be surprised to learn that something you have long forgotten is still there, and that wound has left a door open to the enemy to cause problems for you. It is important to address this as soon as possible. You may need to forgive someone, or perhaps apologize for hurting someone else, even if your words or actions seemed justified at the time.

A young man (we’ll call him Tony) recently told me that he had been experiencing pain. He knew that his heart toward the Lord was right, and that his confessions were good, so he couldn’t understand why healing wasn’t coming. Through prayer, the Lord reminded him of an argument that he had had with his brother many years ago. Because he and his brother talk all of the time, he did not know that there was still a problem. When he called his brother to apologize for his angry words and actions, his brother revealed to him that that argument had caused him grief for years. Tony had no idea, and was deeply sorry to hear it. Tony’s brother accepted his apology and that wound was healed. Soon afterwards, Tony’s pain left.

Beloved, there is no better time than this season of love and joy to mend broken relationships and broken hearts. Spend time with the Lord and let him help you to close any doors that may be opened to the enemy. God loves you and desires for all of His children to be well — spirit, soul, and body.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

III John 1:2

Say this faith declaration out loud: Lord, thank You for caring about me and revealing to me any wounds that I need to deal with. Thank You for helping me to walk in complete victory. I will no longer hang on to, or make excuses for, bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, or a bad attitude. I desire to be made whole — spirit, soul, and body! Amen!
