As we begin this week’s lesson, say aloud:

“GOD WANTS ME TO HAVE A HEART THAT IS STRONG…FIXED…CLEAN…PURE AND PERFECT TOWARD HIM!”

When we are born again, God gives us a NEW HEART…one that is CLEAN, PURE, AND 100 percent free from all sin. The moment we come to Christ, confess and repent of our sins, we are cleansed of ALL sin and are given a NEW HEART whereby we can know Him intimately. He places His Spirit within our new hearts and by His Spirit, reveals Himself to us. He communes with us and we are able to commune with Him and walk in obedience to His Word. At that moment, we stand before God, cleansed, redeemed, and justified with a 100 percent CLEAN, PURE HEART FREE FROM ALL SIN!

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I John 1:9

Regardless of the sins we may have committed, when we surrender our wills, repent and turn away from our sins, we are cleansed from ALL OF THEM! None of them remain. God creates within us a NEW HEART, one that is 100 percent CLEAN AND PURE. When God cleanses us and gives us a NEW, PURE, CLEAN HEART, He doesn’t leave the job half done. He doesn’t leave any trace of any of the old sins from our past to remain. Sin is a spiritual heart disease that brings sorrow or hurt, death and destruction. Sin in the heart is like a cancer in the human body. It grows and eats away at the remaining clean, healthy portion of the heart. When a doctor removes cancer from any part of the body, he attempts to remove all trace of it. Every possible effort is taken to destroy every trace of the cancer cells because if cancer cells remain, they will continue to grow and will eventually bring death. The patient undergoes radiation and chemotherapy to destroy the cancer cells. When God gives us a new heart, He doesn’t just patch up the old one. He doesn’t leave any trace of sin to pollute us. He supernaturally CREATES a NEW, CLEAN, PURE HEART and places it inside the innermost part of our being.

THE BLOOD OF JESUS CLEANSES OUR HEARTS FROM EVERY TRACE OF SIN

The basis upon which we know and have full assurance that we have been given a 100 percent CLEAN, PURE HEART, FREE FROM SIN, is the power of the blood of Jesus. When we come before God, we need to come to Him with PURE HEARTS…with boldness KNOWING that all our sins have been cleansed by the life-giving, precious blood of Jesus that He offered up for our sins. We know that God has said in His word, “For the life of the flesh is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11). Within man’s physical body, the heart pumps the life-giving flow of the blood to the various organs, tissues, and muscles throughout the body. If the flow of blood is cut off from a part of the body, that part will die. Within our spiritual man, it is the life flow of the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from sin. The foundation and basis for our entire spiritual life is based upon faith in the blood of Jesus in cleansing and reconciling us back to God. The strength of our hearts depends upon KNOWING that through the blood of Jesus we can stand pure and clean before God… without sin…restored and reconciled to Him. We know that sin alienates us from God and hinders our prayers. David said, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18). We also know that “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9). We can walk before God with a PERFECT heart…one that is pure in the sight of God because we have a personal ADVOCATE with the Father…One Who stands before Him on our behalf, interceding and restoring us to God. Knowing that the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin, we can THEN come BOLDLY before God KNOWING He will hear and answer us.

John wrote:

Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
I John 3:21-22

He said, “If our heart condemn us not” IF We know we have been cleansed from all sin and there is no known or unconfessed sin in our lives, and our hearts are fixed in obeying His commands, we can come before God without fear and wavering…with confidence that we will receive whatsoever we ask. God’s Word says, “without shedding of blood is no remission (Hebrews 10:22). It was necessary for Christ to shed His own blood and offer it up to God as the only sacrifice sufficient to redeem man from sin and reconcile us back to God. When Christ shed His blood and offered it up to God as a sacrifice for all the sins of mankind, it was sufficient for ALL sin…for ALL time!

For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, un-confessed to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the Living God?
Hebrews 9:13

There is no further offering that needs to be made for our sins. His blood is MORE THAN SUFFICIENT to cleanse and purify us of all sin.

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Hebrews 10:14-18

The Spirit God has placed within our hearts is a witness to us that our sins are gone…forgotten…never to be remembered against us any more. Our hearts have been cleansed, purified by the blood of Jesus and our conscience set free from the guilt, condemnation, fear and dread of God’s wrath for our past sins. Our conscience is sensitized to the Holy Spirit who reveals and “writes” God’s commands within our hearts and warns and convicts of sin. KNOWING our hearts are pure…free from sin, we have BOLDNESS to come before God WITH FULL ASSURANCE OF FAITH. There is no reason why we should ever waver or our hearts be filled with doubt when we fully understand the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus that has been applied to our hearts.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God: Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised,)
Hebrews 10:19-23

Beloved, when you know that your heart is CLEAN, PURE…washed by the blood of Jesus, your heart will be strong and you will not waver!

WE ARE SET FREE FROM
THE POWER OF SIN!

God places His very own Spirit, the Spirit of His Son, Jesus Christ, within our NEW, CLEAN HEART and we are transformed from the darkness of the dominion and control of Satan. Praise God, we are no longer slaves to sin but we are set free from the power of sin! Sin no longer has any dominion or rule over us! Don’t allow anyone to deceive you or let the enemy try to bring guilt or condemnation on you regarding the sins of your past. God’s Word declares that ALL our sins are removed from us as far as the East is from the West!

He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:10-12

God takes out the stony, rebellious heart full of sin, creates a new heart with a new NATURE and implants it within us making us a brand new CREATION…His children with His nature!

We have been delivered from the kingdom of darkness and are supernaturally placed within the Kingdom of God where all our sins have been blotted out that were against us!

(The Father) has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, In whom we have our redemption through His blood, (which means) the forgiveness of our sins.
Colossians 1:13-14, TAB

When we are born again by the Spirit of God, we are a NEW CREATION!

Therefore if any person is (ingrafted) in Christ, the Messiah, he is a (new creature altogether) a new creation; the old (previous moral and spiritual condition) has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! ll
Corinthians 5:17, TAB

The stony, hard, sinful heart is gone and we are given a NEW HEART…

…A HEART THAT IS 100 PERCENT CLEAN AND PURE!
…A HEART THAT IS RESPONSIVE AND YIELDED TO GOD!
…A HEART THAT IS STRONG AND FEARLESS!
…A HEART THAT IS FIXED ON HIM!
…A HEART THAT IS SET TO OBEY GOD AND HIS WORD!
…A HEART THAT IS FAITHFUL TO GOD!
…A HEART THAT IS DETERMINED NOT TO SIN AGAINST GOD!

YOU MUST MOUNT A GUARD
OVER YOUR HEART!

As born-again children of God, our hearts become prime targets for the enemy who comes against us in an attempt to turn our hearts away from God, to harden our hearts and allow sin to invade and take up residence within our hearts.

Once our heart has been changed and cleansed…we must SET A GUARD over our heart and not allow sin or anything else to come into it that will pollute it.

We must be ON GUARD against the attacks of the enemy, to lead us into sin through disobedience.

We must continually ask God to search our hearts and reveal anything that is displeasing to Him so that we can repent and get rid of it!

All the strategies the enemy uses against us; attacking us through our circumstances, bringing sickness and disease upon our bodies, attacking our finances, are aimed at getting us to sin in our hearts against God…to cause us to doubt God and His Word…to turn our hearts away from serving Him with our whole heart.

The devil hates the life God has placed within us. But, there is nothing he can do to corrupt it. That life within us is incorruptible. He tries every possible strategy to cause us to turn away from God, to follow our own self-will, and to allow sin to come into our hearts.

When we are born again and God cleanses and gives us a 100 percent PURE, CLEAN HEART, we are dead to sin. The power of sin no longer has dominion over us. Through the power of the Spirit within us we have the power to resist the temptations of sin and the lusts of the flesh.
Paul told the Romans:

…Consider yourselves also dead to sin and your relation to it broken, but (that you are) alive to God — living in unbroken fellowship with Him — in Christ, Jesus. Let not sin therefore rule as king in your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies, to make you yield to their cravings and be subject to their lusts and evil passions. For sin shall not (any longer) exert dominion over you, since now you are not under law (as slaves), but under grace — as subjects of God’s favor and mercy.
Romans 6:11-12, 14, TAB

Since we have been set free from the power of sin by the Spirit within us, it is up to us to reject sin, every work of sin, every evil thought and imagination, every trace of sin. We are given a 100 percent clean, pure heart free from sin, but we have a choice. It is up to us to keep our hearts free from sin. Paul said, “Don’t let sin reign in your body.” He said, “Put off the works of the flesh…put off the old man and put on the new man that iscreated after God in righteousness. It’s up to you! Be diligent! Keep on guard!

Through the power of God’s Spirit within us, we must MOUNT A GUARD OVER OUR HEARTS so that Satan will not be able to entice and lead us into sin that would pollute and contaminate the CLEAN, PURE Heart God has given us.

Open your Bible to I John, chapter five, verse eighteen. Underline it in your Bible and write the words, “Fortify and strengthen your heart” next to this verse. Are you ready for a spiritual bomb to explode within you?

THROUGH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WITHIN YOU, YOU CAN FORTIFY AND GUARD YOUR HEART WITH A SHIELD SATAN CANNOT PENETRATE AND HE WILL BE UNABLE TO TOUCH YOU!

I’m not saying he will never come against you or try to tempt you to sin and attempt to defeat you. But, when you have this spiritual guard over your heart, he will not be able to penetrate it and pollute your heart with sin. The Apostle John wrote:

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
I John 5:18

John said that those who are begotten of God by His Spirit, KEEP or GUARD themselves so that the enemy does not touch them!

Instead of yielding to sin and allowing it into our hearts, through the power of the Holy Spirit within us, we are able to guard ourselves and prevent the enemy from polluting our hearts, thereby weakening us and cutting off the life flow of His Spirit in our lives.

Those who are truly born of God do not continue to sin willfully. When we have been born of the Spirit, Christ lives within us. We have been given a new nature, created in God’s image, in righteousness and holiness. We have been made partakers of His divine nature! If we have been truly born again of His Spirit and have a NEW, CLEAN, PURE heart, we will manifest His nature.
Peter said:

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
ll Peter 1:3-4

WE ARE GIVEN A NEW HEART
WITH A NEW NATURE!

Peter said we have “ESCAPED the corruption that is in the world through lust.” We are no longer a slave to the “old man”…with its carnal nature…the evil thoughts…evil desires that once controlled us.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit, continually within us, we are given ALL THINGS “pertaining unto life and godliness.” Through the work of Christ on Calvary, and the promises God has given unto us, it is now possible for us to be “partakers” of the divine nature of God, who has cleansed us and created us in His image!

But, this is not all! Peter continues by exhorting us to be DILIGENT…MAKE EVERY EFFORT…to develop and continue to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and in His image with His Godlike characteristics.
Peter said:

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
ll Peter 1:5-8, NIV

Now notice, Peter continues by saying those believers who do not have these God-like qualities…goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, love, are spiritually blind. They have forgotten and are oblivious to the fact that they have been cleansed from their past sins and have been made a NEW CREATION in Christ.

But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
ll Peter 1:9, NIV

Peter said if we possess these qualities and they continue to increase within us, it will keep us from being ineffective and unfruitful in our knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Once we have been made a new creation in Christ, God’s very own children, He wants us to continually grow in His likeness, having His divine nature.

Look closely at this next verse:

Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome unto the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

ll Peter 1:10-11

Peter said, IF WE DO THESE THINGS WE WILL NEVER FALL! IF we are diligent and are continually drawing upon the Holy Spirit within us; and IF we are exercising our faith in the promises God has given us; we will continually be strengthened IN OUR HEARTS…our inner man and we will not fall.

Beloved, receive this great truth into your spirit!

God wants you to strengthen and fortify your heart so that you will never fall! We must not forget that we have been cleansed from all sin and we have been given a NEW HEART with a NEW NATURE that is created in God’s image…in righteousness and holiness. Paul told the Ephesians, “put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24).

He told the Colossians:

…for you have stripped off the old (unregenerate) self with its evil practices, and have clothed yourselves with the new (spiritual self) which is (ever in the process of being) renewed and remolded into (fuller and more perfect knowledge upon) knowledge, after the likeness of Him who created it.

Colossians 3:9-10, TAB

Since we have a NEW HEART with a NEW NATURE, we must be DILIGENT…PUT FORTH EVERY EFFORT, through the power of the Holy Spirit within us to continue to grow and develop Godlike characteristics that are like His divine nature.

Paul said:

Clothe yourselves therefore, as (God’s own picked representatives,) His own chosen ones, (who are) purified and holy and well-beloved (by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by)

tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, (and) patience—which is tireless, long-suffering and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper. Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has freely forgiven, so you must also (forgive) And above all these (put on) love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness–which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony.

Colossians 3:12-14, TAB

GOD WANTS YOU TO HAVE A FRESH, HEART-TO-HEART ENCOUNTER WITH HIM!

Beloved, what is the true condition of your heart?

Is your heart strong, fixed, clean, pure and perfect toward God?

Or, is it possible that your heart has become weakened through sin and spiritual disease…disobedience…pride…unforgiveness …bitterness…jealousy…fear…unbelief.

Is your heart tender…sensitive to the Spirit of God within you, or has your heart become calloused and hardened where your spiritual senses have become dulled and you are no longer sensitive to His voice?

Through this lesson we are going to have a HEART-TO-HEART ENCOUNTER WITH GOD! We cannot possibly know the true condition of our own hearts. God has said, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins,…” (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

The Word declares, “All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits-the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Proverbs 16:2, TAB).

Only God can reveal to us, by His Spirit, the true condition of our hearts. Our hearts are like an open book to God, there is NOTHING hidden from Him. It is possible that our spiritual eyes may have been blinded from seeing sin that has entered our hearts, and to discern wrong motives and thoughts we are harboring, or to recognize spiritual heart disease that can weaken our hearts.

We can deceive ourselves and attempt to cover up sin in our hearts or to be so filled with pride we are unwilling to acknowledge it.

We can deceive others and hide the true condition of our hearts, but God searches and tries our hearts with His penetrating gaze that pierces into the very depths of our innermost beings.

To strengthen and fortify our hearts so that we will be strong and immovable in this endtime hour, we need our hearts to be examined by God Himself!

We must have a heart-to-heart encounter with God!

We must be willing for God to look deep into our hearts and reveal the things we have allowed to take root there…to expose the sin so that we can be cleansed and our hearts purified. Sometimes this is a painful process because we do not like to see or admit that we may have allowed sin to creep into our hearts. But we must yield ourselves to God and allow Him to expose everything that is displeasing to Him because we need to get rid of it so our hearts will be strengthened!

We must come before Him with a broken and contrite heart…one that is humble and repentant before Him.

We must give Him free reign to expose the true condition of our hearts, reveal the things that are displeasing to Him, repent and ask Him to cleanse and create a clean heart within us. David cried out to God:

Search me, 0 God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24

He said, “Create in me a clean heart, 0 God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation” (Psalm 51:10-12).

Are you ready for this heart-to-heart encounter?

Are you ready for God to TRY and TEST your heart to reveal its true condition?

Are you ready for God to do some spiritual surgery on your heart so that it will be clean and pure in His eyes and so that you will be able to serve Him with a PERFECT heart?

This week, make this the cry of your heart. In seasons of prayer, humble yourself before God and allow Him to do spiritual surgery on your heart.

Get rid of everything in your heart that would hinder the flow of His Spirit in your life.

Remember:

There is no force, no power on earth nor in hell that will shake you…

WHEN YOUR HEART IS STRONG… FIXED…CLEAN…PURE AND PERFECT TOWARD GOD!

GOD HAS CREATED AND PLACED WITHIN YOU A HEART THAT IS 100 PERCENT CLEAN AND PURE!

THROUGH THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT YOU CAN MOUNT A GUARD OVER YOUR HEART AND SATAN WILL BE UNABLE TO TOUCH YOU!
