We are taking a journey into one of the most critical, strategic and powerful areas of spiritual warfare…the prayer battle for our nations. As we take steps toward this awesome, incredible battle, we must learn and stick to the strategies God gives us concerning this warfare.

The final goal and sum of spiritual warfare in any nation leads to the spiritual control and conquest of that nation. The enemy may start by attacking families, churches and cities, but his goal is always to dominate entire nations with his forces of evil.

The enemy’s strategies are to attack in key places relating to a nation’s well being such as the political system, the media and morale of the nation and of prophetic importance, the nation’s relationship with Israel.

Each of these areas, as we will learn shortly, is a strategic point where the enemy will attack repeatedly, trying to gain control.

When you can control the media and political system of a country, you can control the country. When you can manipulate the relationship of a nation with Israel, you can cause cursings or blessings from the Word of God, depending on which way you manipulate the relationship.

Satan knows these strategies well and desires to use them efficiently to destroy every nation he can. There are many groups and individuals who do much to help Satan in his work. However, his main obstacles are intercessors!

Satan hates the intercessor. If his schemes are stopped cold by any spiritual force, it is because of the prayers of the saints interceding. The power of intercession is activated when we pray in the Name of Jesus. God, the Father, hears the prayer and moves on our behalf, destroying the enemy’s works.

In response to intercession, demons are stopped cold from doing the devil’s works!

In response to intercession, angels are dispatched to protect the innocent from evil and harm!

In response to intercession, the Holy Spirit, Himself, will cause a stir of revival that will sweep entire nations and bring the lost to salvation!

The future does not belong to Satan!

The future does not belong to political systems! The future does not belong to the news media! The future belongs to the intercessor!

But the intercessor must know what he or she is getting into before engaging the enemy on a national scale. In over 45 years of ministry, I have fought powers and principalities in the nations of North and South America, Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia and the islands of the world. I have cast out more demons than most people could imagine. But I know better than to go after the enemy without first finding out what it’s going to take.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish. Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

Luke 14:28-32

 

The wisdom of Jesus should echo in your ears right now before you jump into warfare in a hasty manner, not considering the cost of what you are doing. You need to count the cost before engaging in national spiritual warfare. When you come against national principalities and powers, you are not coming against little spirits that irritate Christians, you are fighting serious spirits that rule nations!

But repeat this after me to gain strength for the battle:

There is a power so strong, it makes rulers of this world tremble!

 After you count the cost for the battle remember God’s Word:

…greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I John 4:4

Even though in national spiritual warfare we deal with greater powers of the enemy than in any other arena, they are still no match for the power of Jesus Christ!

We can’t lose when we stand in the Name of Jesus! It’s time we rise up with no fear, look the devil in the eye and tell him his time to cause problems in our nations is over!

WHOSE RESPONSIBILITY IS NATIONAL WARFARE

 Go ahead and count the cost to your own spirit for the warfare you have been called to, but in the end, realize that it is the responsibility of the Church to fight this fight.

The government is not going to fight the devil! The national defense of your nation is not going to tear down demonic strongholds!

Your political parties are not going to lead your nation into spiritual victories!

If anyone is going to fight the battle for your nation, it is going to be the Church! The battle is going to be won by saints of God like you and me who have a burden for the people of the world, red, yellow, black or white, and want to see the devil put where he belongs…under our feet!

Hear, 0 Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,

Deuteronomy 9:1

 What did God command the people to do?

He commanded them to pass over the River Jordan and possess the nations! He commanded them to battle with great cities fenced up to heaven.

What does this mean to us today? All truth is parallel.

In the spirit, God has called us, not the government, not the political system, not the military, to possess nations in the spiritual realm. He has told us we will come against great forces and strongholds of the enemy, but we will be victorious!

Don’t be afraid to fight! The Lord is on our side!

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

Psalm 47:1-3

 Even though we are going into the battle with prayer and intercession, God Himself is fighting for us and will subdue the enemy under us! The nations we are interceding for will be conquered in the spirit! The enemy will be under our feet!

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for warfare! I don’t care how big the principality is. I’ve got a God that is greater than anything the enemy can muster. I’ve got a God that created the Heavens and the Earth, and I have nothing to fear! Now that we have dealt with any fear of warfare the enemy may have tried to plant, it is time to study the strategies of war God has given us for today.

We are living in a day like no other. There has never been a time when the enemy’s attacks have been so concentrated and so intense. There has also never been a time in which technology and learning has played such a factor in the conquest of the nations.

Technology has so increased that entire nations can be influenced by one news broadcast. The political system is almost a hostage to the six o’clock news.

THE ENEMY’S STRATEGY FOR THE MEDIA

As we discussed in relation to warfare against cities, there are spirits assigned to influence the media who can then influence entire nations. There is a feeling among people in the world that anything aired on television, printed in the newspaper or broadcast on radio must be the truth. This belief is a terrible misconception, yet the enemy intends to use it to control nations.

If there were a broadcast in this evening’s news that reported that terrorists had taken over the White House, would you not believe it?

Of course you would. Why?

Because it was reported on television.

People from all over the world knew within minutes when the Federal building in Oklahoma City was destroyed by a bomb blast.

They saw videotape and photos. They heard voices and listened to reports.

Was it real?

Of course it was. But what of subjective reports the spirit controlling the media can give that influences public opinion instead of reporting facts?

For instance, television programs often portray Christians as ignorant people with no common sense. Whether we like it or not, this portrayal influences public opinion.

Have you ever seen a real live Christian who wasn’t a flake promoting Jesus on a talk show?

I doubt it. Why?

Because the enemy doesn’t want Christians portrayed as intelligent, thinking, rational people who found out that God is real. The enemy doesn’t want people to know that Jesus is alive and has people all over this world who can produce the proof of the resurrection!

The enemy’s strategy of manipulating nations through the media doesn’t stop there. After portraying Christians as negatively as possible, the media will glorify homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, rebellion, psychics, fortune telling, and the occult…anything that directly opposes righteousness.

Most television programs may not actually show sexual situations, but the implied situations are now being applied to young people of high school age, rather than adults, having relationships with multiple partners!

Psychic hotlines are advertised regularly by stations with no advertising standards.

Let’s bring this into balance. We are not angry at people. We are not upset at news reporters, actors and actresses. We are angry at the spirits of darkness that have invaded our nations and are influencing our society.

Remember this scripture:

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

ll Corinthians 10:4-5

 We are not fighting people.

We are not fighting networks and stations.

We are in a spiritual war against the demonic forces that exalt themselves against God.

WARFARE STRATEGIES OVER THE MEDIA

To win the war over the influence on our nations, we must get out of denial about what the enemy is doing through television, movies, radio, music and print. If we ignore the enemy’s war, we will be defeated. Next, we must be more strategic than ever. We must use every ounce of discernment God has given us to know exactly what is happening in the spirit realm.

Keep in mind, we are not trying to destroy the media. We are destroying the enemy’s strongholds so the media can function without the enemy’s influence.

Our first step in warring over our nation’s print media and airwaves is to go into deep prayer and supplication before God and ask for revelation about what is actually happening in our nation’s media.

We may know some of the symptoms just by what we have seen, heard and read, but we do not always know the plan, purpose and strategies the enemy is following.

Like Daniel, we must be determined to pray and seek God until the answer comes. I cannot even express how important it is for us to remember we are not dealing with little imps trying to cause little problems. We are dealing with principalities which plan and attack on a national scale.

This is not a game.

If we are not determined as Daniel was, we may miss out on the vital information that will seal our victory in spiritual warfare.

When we begin to seek God for the enemy’s plan, we must remember that the principalities over our nation will try to block the angelic messengers who are bringing God’s answer to us.

Remember the scripture:

Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days…

Daniel 10:12-14

Daniel was seeking God for information about Israel. The angel left Heaven the same day Daniel began to pray, but the spirits over the region where Daniel lived blocked the angelic messenger for 21 days while Daniel continued to fast and pray.

During our time of seeking God for revelation, we must also be willing to fast and pray until the answer comes. If we are not committed enough to fast and pray until God speaks, we are probably not qualified to fight in spiritual warfare of this magnitude. It takes a mature commitment to enter into this kind of battlefield.

When the answers God gives begin to come to us, we need to be ready to act on them. Many times when God has spoken to me, He has told me to write down what He said. Many of the most anointed and inspired books I have ever produced were written this way, like 5 Major Crises and 5 Major Waves of the Holy Spirit Coming in the 1990’s. Don’t be afraid to write down what God speaks to you. A short pencil is often better than a long memory.

Once you have written down the revelation God has given you, it is time to go into deep intercession and travail. Item by item, line by line, war against each strategy of the enemy in the media God has revealed to you. You may have already prayed long, but this is not the time to compromise and try to pray just to finish the list.

It may take hours of intercession for each point God has given to you and may require many, many prayer sessions alone or with your prayer group. Don’t think you have to destroy every stronghold on your nation’s media in one hour. It may take days or even weeks, but an intercessor who truly has been anointed by God will stay true to the task until the very last giant falls.

My experience in warfare and travail over the nations of the world shows me that demons who are defeated oftentimes need to be reminded that they are defeated. In the nations of the world, I have spent hour upon hour interceding each day for the crusades and meetings we hold. I may pray eight, ten, or even twelve hours for one service. Then, the next day, I start over again. I don’t assume that my prayer on Monday will break strongholds over Wednesday’s meetings.

Your victories in the spiritual realm over the media of your nations must be reenforced. You may begin to see changes and the results of your warfare months after the strongholds have been torn down, but you must continue to dominate that area of the spirit. We are not just to conquer, but to occupy. In time, sweeping changes can be made and maintained through the power of spiritual warfare prayer.

THE ENEMY’S STRATEGY FOR NATIONAL POLITICAL SYSTEMS

 The political system of your nation is closely tied in to public opinion dictated by the media. If you wish to influence the political system in a more permanent manner, you must first influence your nation’s media. Once we have influenced the media over our nations, we can attack the demons influencing the political system.

One of the serious strategic errors most intercessors make in interceding for their countries is to do so without the light of biblical prophecy shining into their prayer life. There are some national events happening today that are going to happen no matter who prays what.

God’s Word has already promised many things that would happen in the last days. Many of the prophecies are coming to pass now and cannot be avoided.

Your nations may have a destiny that is unavoidable even through intercession because God’s Word must be accomplished. However, you can make tremendous impact through your prayers nonetheless.

The enemy’s plan for nations, other than what is dictated by end time prophecy, is to promote godlessness, sin and acceptance of sin. As we learned in our study of spiritual warfare prayer for our cities, Satan wants to cause us to accept sin every bit as much as he wants us to sin.

Furthermore, the enemy wants to promote racial tension, poor economy and atheism. He also wants corrupt public officials to be elected so he can manipulate them into pushing his agenda.

There are also specific plans the enemy has for each nation. You must spend time seeking God for these specific strategies just as you did for the war over the media in your nation. God will reveal to you the enemy’s plans that are specific to your nation.

Some countries have politically motivated spiritual strongholds that others do not. The enemy promotes pagan religions in some countries while he promotes atheism in others. These spiritual abominations are carried out in the name of the government. Some nations actually claim voodoo and other forms of black magic as their national religion. The enemy promotes drug and alcohol abuse in some nations while in others, he promotes slothfulness on a national scale through government programs.

You must go into the inner chambers with God and seek out the strategies the enemy is using on your nation. There will never be a book, a magazine nor any research material that will take the place of knowledge God will give you about your nation.

Once again, write down what God reveals to you about your own nation. You must have clarity when you go into intercession and not be burdened by remembering details that could have been written down.

National pride may keep you from facing the truth about what is happening in your country. We’ve got to take the mask off and look reality in the eye if we’re ever going to be successful in spiritual warfare.

WARFARE PRAYER STRATEGIES FOR NATIONAL POLITICAL SYSTEMS

When you are ready for warfare over your nation’s political system, you must then be prepared for some of the longest, most intense prayer sessions you have ever experienced in your life.

National spirits in control of political systems do not give up without a struggle. They will counterattack with every ounce of power they can muster. I am not telling you this to make you afraid. I am telling you this so you can know your enemy.

You must also be flexible and know how to stand on the scriptures God gave you to combat evil situations in your political system.

Consider this scripture:

The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Proverbs 21:1

 What does this mean in relation to warfare prayer over your nation’s political system?

You may live under a cruel dictator. You may live under a corrupt elected official. You may have some other leader who does not fear God.

Don’t be discouraged!

The scripture doesn’t say that the heart of the king who knows the Lord is in the Lord’s hand. It simply says the king’s heart. The kind of ruler or government official you are living under doesn’t matter. God can change the heart of the king just like He can change the course of rivers!

Don’t be afraid! Stand on the scripture! Use the strategy God has given you and defeat the agenda of the enemy.

Our strategy must include warfare prayer over the leaders of our nation, asking God to change their hearts and cause them to make godly decisions. Those who will not obey God are to be removed from office by prayer.

Not by picketing. Not by bloodshed. By prayer.

At this point, you must intercede for your nation in the areas of morality, godliness and the fear of God. Take your time with your prayer and don’t move on to the next topic of prayer until you feel a release from God over what you are praying about.

Item by item, intercede and travail over the list you have made for your nation’s political system. Win victory over each area before moving on to the next.

The enemy will always try to rebuild his strongholds over your nation. It is up to you to see that he does not succeed.

YOUR NATION’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL

 One very strategic place the enemy may attack your nation is in its relationship with Israel.

You may ask, “Why is this so strategic?”

It is of great end time prophetic importance. How your nation treats Israel will affect its status for all eternity.

Study the following passage of scripture:

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Matthew 25:31-46

Of course this passage of scripture has great implications in our individual Christian lives. We should be ready at a moment’s notice to reach out to mankind from the least to the greatest with the love of Christ and compassion to do something for our fellow man in the Name of Jesus. However, this passage also applies to how your nation will be judged in the last day according to how they have treated Israel.

As end time prophecy is unveiled and Israel is persecuted by the Antichrist, some scholars believe some Israelis will flee to the nations of the world. Those nations who are sympathetic toward Israel will receive rewards from God on the last day. Those nations who are not will receive damnation.

Of course, this is an end time prophecy, but God made other prophecies which have instant implications:

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Genesis 12:1-3

God has established a law that whoever blesses Israel will be blessed. Whoever curses Israel will be cursed. The enemy wants to influence the political structure of every nation to curse Israel.

Why?

Two reasons. First, the enemy wants your nation to be cursed. Second, the enemy hates Israel and wants to see her persecuted by the nations of the earth.

This is Satan’s twofold plan to influence nations to curse Israel. We must pray and intercede for our nations that we do not curse Israel with our political actions. We must pray that our nations do not curse Israel with our votes in UN meetings or our judgments about what is happening in the Middle East right now. We must support and bless the seed of Abraham. The result is simple, if we fail to influence our nations to bless Israel we will be cursed as nations. If we succeed, we will be blessed.

Intercede for your nation first that the general population will have a love for the Jew and for Israel. Second, pray that your government also be sympathetic toward Israel in all political situations.

IT’S TIME FOR WAR

 Now, let God use you in warfare for your entire nation. This is the highest level of spiritual warfare most people will ever attain. The power of God is ready and available to bring you into an experience of intercession that will make a difference in your entire nation.
